![]() You start by laying a couple of plots of land, some proles move in and construct rudimentary shacks, and you give them a water supply so they can wash their arses. Religion also plays a major role, and various gods must be appeased through building temples and holding festivals, with failure to please them resulting in a blight upon your land. There's no denying that the basic gameplay elements are the same, and for those who missed out last time round, they go a little bit like this: faced with little more than a barren wasteland, you have to build a city from the ground up, populate it, and provide a decent standard of living for your citizens, who will demand food, jobs, education, entertainment, protection, and all the beer they can drink. Despite the change of scenario, Pharaoh uses the same engine as its predecessor, a fact that has led cynics to label it 'Caesar 3 with pyramids'. Not content with replicating life in Roman times, the Impressions team has shifted their focus towards Egypt, land of sun, sand, slave labour and elaborate monuments. Caesar III, last year's Rome 'em-up, proved to be one of the most addictive games of all time. There are two modes to play here, one is custom scenario mode and another is the family game.It came, it saw, and it conquered. The game is a turn base strategic based upon building majestic Egyptian cities! You are the pharaoh and you can build cities and manage the Egyptian land. Recommended! The real Egyptian "Civilization" game! This is a very fun and interesting game and is perfect for strategy lovers with a interest towards old cultures, especially Egyptian ones. The panels and controls are also simple enough, and the AI is challenging, and the soundtrack is also very nice. The game is played from an isometric point of view with the visuals worthy of every good strategy game of that time. ![]() The gameplay is very interesting and challenging and there is certainly a lot of work to do. You start from a single familiy, to camps, to smaller cities to bigger cities. You start the game as a simple herder, the head of a small family, and you have to work, expand and build bigger and bigger buildings and communities that will get you a higher and higher rank and eventually make you the famous ruler-god of Egypt. Based on the same enginge as Caesar III, the game's objective is explained in the game title - you have to become a pharaoh of Egypt. It's like playing Civilization, but being oriented exclusively on Egypt. Walk like an Egyptian, build like an Egyptian ![]()
